There are so many Golf swing training aids available today and so much hype that you might buy one after the other and still not find one that improves your Golf swing. The first thing you need to do is figure out what aspect of your Golf swing needs attention. It is vital that you understand what your weaknesses with your swing are and concentrate on finding a solution for that particular problem. Then, and only then, should you consider searching for a Golf teaching aid that will address the swing fault that you have identified.

The best thing you can do to start with is make sure you have the fundamental elements correct that are necessary for a good Golf swing. You need to make sure that you have the right grip to start with. Next, the address position and your body posture have to be in alignment to the target. Your balances at set up and throughout the swing, as well as your weight transfer have to be correct or you will never achieve a good Golf swing. And finally, you have to maintain a perfect tempo and plane to achieve the right impact position for hitting the ball with distance, accuracy and consistency.

So how do you know which of the above elements you are doing wrong? Well, if you can afford it, get a Golf instructor to analyze your Golf swing and identify your fault; although, from my experience, having someone tell you what you are doing wrong, then showing you what to do to correct it, did not work for me. But at least you will know what your fault is and therefore make a more informed buying decision of a Golf teaching aid. Another possibility for identifying your swing fault is to video tape yourself. By watching a replay, especially in slow motion, you should be able to spot your swing fault; if not, maybe a Golfing buddy that is more experienced than you can watch the video and tell you where you are going wrong.

After identifying your fault you will then know what type of Golf teaching aid you need to correct it. I have found on the internet that the teaching aids are conveniently categorized into the following swing aids: full swing aids, swing plane aids, swing tempo aids, swing alignment aids, balance aids, grip aids, impact position aids, fitness training aids, and weight transfer aids. Some of these aids overlap in different categories - in other words, one type of swing aid might correct two or three different problems.

So, if you know you have a Golf fault and you have identified which area of your needs attention, then you are in a position to choose the right Golf swing teaching aid. Search the internet for reviews for particular teaching aids or look for testimonies from known Golf professionals or Golf instructors. So, do you need them? Well, if you find the right teaching aid for you and it improves your game - then yes!

McCain proposes break in gas taxes (AP)

Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain looks down during a roundtable of local business owners at a campaign stop in the Brooklyn borough in New York April 10, 2008. (Shannon Stapleton/Reuters)AP - John McCain wants the federal government to free people from paying gasoline taxes this summer and ensure that college students can secure loans this fall, a pair of proposals aimed at stemming pain from the country's troubled economy.

I ran a Golf school in my home town for a number of years. It was a small town of about 4000 people, with larger towns surrounding ours. One of the major roads that led to my town went right past the driving range. There were many people who would drive by and see me with a player, or a group of players, throwing basketballs back and forth. When I went down to the grocery store, the number one question I would get was 'Kris, how in the world does a basketball make you a better Golfer?' This article is dedicated to answering that very question.

As we all know it is a difficult game that we are passionate about. It is also not easy to improve. Not because of ability, but more often because of time and not knowing what to practice during that time. It is hard to get to the driving range enough to groove a new move. The reason I bring the ball on the range is to demonstrate how each player can improve at home. It helps if you can hit balls for hours and hours. However, if you can put in a few minutes a day of well focused repetitions at home, you would be amazed what that will do to your game.

Now, you can use any type of ball, pillow, or pot to work on your swing. I recommend a basketball because it is big and when properly inflated weighs between 7-9 pounds. This means that it will help develop some of your core Golf muscles at the same time as you develop your swing. Since the ball has some weight to it, it will help develop some Golf muscle endurance.

The great part of practicing this way is that you really see what a strong backswing position looks and feels like. We are going to focus on the shoulder turn. There are many players out there that don't turn their shoulders to their full capability, and that causes them to lose power and consistency.

The drill is simple in nature, but often the simplest drills are the most effective.

The Basketball Back Swing Drill

1.Hold your basketball between your hands and get into your Golf stance.

2.Start your back swing.

3.Stop and hold your backswing position when your left arm is parallel to the ground.

4.Turn and look at your basketball. If you are in great position your ball should be in front of your chest.

5.Repeat as many times as you can.

If you have made a proper turn you hands will stay in front of your chest. If you see any still photos of the best players in the world, they all get to this position. This position is the key to an effective backswing. If you can keep your hands in front of your chest, you will keep your club on the proper line (swing plane), create more power, and use less energy to hit better shots.

If you follow the steps in the drill, and when you get to step 4 and you find that your ball is not in front of your chest it means you are out of position. This will make it much harder to hit great shots. If your ball swings out around your body and ends up behind you it means you did not turn your shoulders enough during your backswing. This will make your swing very flat and lack power.

Please use this drill on a daily basis, as I know it can only positively benefit your game. If you would like to see this swing tip in picture format please visit Golf-lessons.com/free-Golf-tip.html">www.free-Golf-lessons.com/free-Golf-tip.html.
